Full Description

A Roman skillet (a type of saucepan used by the military) was found during dredging at the River Witham. It is in Sheffield Museum. The find location could perhaps have been on the Washingborough side of the river. The skillet was made of bronze and was stamped 'FLORES.F' on the handle (for Florus fecit - 'Flores made this'). {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}
