Full Description
RAF Fiskerton opened in January 1943, and Lancaster squadrons were based there. Associated buildings include a bomb dump, officers' mess, gymnasium, chapel, naafi, living quarters, airmens' mess, sargeants' mess, WAAF living quarters and mess, sick quarters, mortuary, ambulance station and sewage works. It was disbanded in 1946 and reopened in 1961. {1}{2}{3}{4}
During an evaluation of land off Ferry Road the remains of brick and concrete building foundations of structures relating to the Second World War airfield at Fiskerton were identified. The structures are at TF 0637 7184. {5}{6}
