Full Description
Mill Close was indicated on a map of 1779. Pevsner mentions a mill north of the church. It was early 19th century water mill, which was converted into a warehouse. {1}{2}
It is a 3 storey red brick building, of English Garden Wall bond in an irregular pattern. It has wall plates of cast iron 'JF 1855', a slate roof, and workshop type windows. There are two millstones outside and a date stone of 1855. It has a central doorway with large double doors to the left and a large wooden lintel across the top. {3}
Steam Mill, located on Jameson Bridge Street, was a flour mill then became used as a grain warehouse. It has a date stone with 'J.B.F 1855'. {4}
The 1905 Ordnance Survey map records this mill as a 'Corn Mill (disused)'. {5}
