Full Description

SETTLEMENT OR FARMSTEAD OF DRINSEY. DRINSEY IS A MEDIEVAL NAME, AND WAS A PLACE OF RESIDENCE, PERHAPS ALWAYS A SINGLE FARM, FROM AT LEAST C16, BUT PROBABLY FOR THE LATER MIDDLE AGES TOO. A SINGLE JUG HANDLE WAS FOUND IN FIELDWALKING THERE. {1} Drinsey Farm, Hardwick. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Loose courtyard with three sides of the courtyard formed by working agricultural buildings. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been significant loss (greater than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {2}
