Full Description

The former school at Sturton by Stow was built in 1878 and closed in 1989. It was subsequently converted into a private house, although some of the original features have been retained, including the old school bell, well pump and clock. {1} The school with its adjacent schoolmaster's house is marked on the Ordnance Survey County Series maps of 1886 and 1906. {2}{3} The building was constructed as a replacement for an earlier schoolroom within the village (see PRN 58305). {4}
