TROLLOPE RECORDS THE FINDING OF 'PORTIONS OF PAVING OF A ROMAN HOUSE' AT MARTON IN C18. THESE HAVE ALSO BEEN INTERPRETED AS BEING PART OF TILL BRIDGE LANE. MANY ROMAN COINS HAVE SINCE BEEN FOUND IN THE PARISH INCLUDING ONES OF HADRIAN AND CARAUSIUS. ALSO BRONZE FOLLIS, POSSIBLY OF DIOCLETIAN (284- 305 AD). OBV: BUST OF DIOCLETIAN FACING RIGHT.
