Full Description

Earthwork remains of medieval ridge and furrow, identified on aerial photographs by the National Mapping Programme. {1} Further traces of medieval ridge and furrow were identified in January 2015, during magnetometry survey on land off Larch Avenue, Nettleham. The remains were identified as a series of parallel linear magnetic anomalies, aligned on a roughly north-west to south-east axis. The anomalies correlate well with the alignment of the earthworks previously identified, and extend the area of known remains to the west. A strong linear magnetic anomaly was also recorded at the northern end of the furrows, likely representing a former field boundary of contemporary date. {2}{3}
