Full Description
DURING EXCAVATIONS ALONG THE WELTON TO LINCOLN TRUNKMAIN PIPELINE ROUTE, LATE IRON AGE COARSE POTTERY WAS FOUND IN NATURAL DEPRESSIONS IN AREA 1, SUGGESTING THAT A SETTLEMENT, PERHAPS A FARMSTEAD, EXISTED CLOSE BY. THE OCCURENCE OF SIMILAR FINDS FROM THE LINEAR DITCHES LESS THAN 1 KM FURTHER NORTH COULD IMPLY SIGNIFICANT IRON AGE SETTLEMENT IN THIS AREA. {1}
