Full Description
DMV OF RUTTON IS DOCUMENTED FROM LATE C12 ONWARDS, AND PRINCIPALLY IN C13, BUT DOES NOT APPEAR IN ANY TAXATION RETURN. THE NAME SURVIVED INTO THE EARLY C19 AND WAS MAPPED IN 1824 NEAR THE NORTH PARISH BOUNDARY OF WELTON AT APPROXIMATELY THE LOCATION NOW OCCUPIED BY GRANGE FARM. NO EARTHWORKS HAVE BEEN NOTED AND NO FIELDWORK UNDERTAKEN FOR PLOUGHED REMAINS. {1}
