Cropmarks of a possible Roman villa site, comprising four possible Roman enclosures and five boundaries, identified on aerial photographs by the National Mapping Programme. {1}
An unstratified sherd of Roman pottery was recovered in March 2010, during the archaeological monitoring of groundworks for the construction of a new grain store at Hoe Hill Farm, Swinhope. The pottery fragment was an abraded rim sherd from a plain rimmed dish of 3rd or 4th century date. {2}{3}
