Full Description
Ditch features identified in three trenches at Holme Farm, Forge Lane, West Rasen in 2024 were considered to represent a possible early medieval boundary system. One of the ditches was dated via 5th to 9th century pottery, with the remaining features considered to be of similar character and dated tentatively based on comparison. Given additional transitional wares (970-1200) and other 11th and 12th century pottery has been found elsewhere on the site it is likely that some of the medieval features in the vicinity are of early medieval origin and were maintained. {1}{2}
