Full Description
AN ANGLO-SAXON BRONZE WRIST-CLASP DECORATED WITH CROSS-SHAPED STAMPS AND RAISED BOSSES, AND A FRAGMENT OF AN ANGLO-SAXON BRONZE CRUCIFORM BROOCH FOOT-PLATE, OF ABERG GROUP III OR IV, DECORATED WITH SMALL CRESCENTIC STAMPS AND WITH THE 'NOSTRILS' STRONGLY DEVELOPED BUT THE RELIEF VERY LOW, THERE IS A TRACE OF THE CATCH-PLATE ON THE REAR; REPORTED BY SCUNTHORPE MUSEUM IN 1978. {1}{2}
KEVIN LEAHY SUGGESTS THAT THE FINDS ARE PROBABLY FROM AN INHUMATION BURIAL - POSSIBLY A CEMETERY. MORE RECENTLY A HANGING-BOWL HAS BEEN FOUND IN THE SAME PARISH BUT IT IS UNCLEAR IF THEY ARE FROM THE SAME LOCATION (SEE PRN 51451). {3}{4}
