Full Description

The principal manorial site at Scotton, mentioned as a Domesday manor, can be traced into the post-medieval period. Sub-infeudated to the Neville family by Peterborough Abbey, it stood next to the south side of the church, and fell into disrepair and disuse in the 17th century. The site is identified as 'the Manor House' with 'the Hall Close' and 'Malthouse' on a map of 1682; and called 'Hall Close' on the tithe award map of 1839. The site is now partly built over. {1}{2}
