Full Description

PRN 51208 In June 1994, a fresh north to south aligned drainage cutting on the south side of Fiskerton Road East was inspected where it cut through the peats of the Witham fen where these overlay a discreet bank of sand (an extinct watercourse, or roddon, running east to west). No structures were seen in the peat, though eight fragments of worked flint were collected from the top of the sand bank including a barbed and tanged arrowhead, an end scraper, four struck flakes (one burnt), and two debitage flakes from blade production. The top of the bank (roddon) can be seen as an elevated area (and soilmark) in the fields to the east and west (from about TF03557151 to about TF03927160). {1}{2}{3}
