Full Description
The site of a former brickyard beside Harpswell Lane. The county directories do not mention brick makers at Hemswell, but Joseph Dobbs is so described in the baptism register for 1843. By 1870 he had been succeeded by Thomas Larratt, who was also a farmer. {1}
The brickyard is not shown on the 1824 first edition 1 inch Ordnance Survey map, but is marked on the 1956 6 inch Ordnance Survey map. Now a caravan park. {2}
