In Church Street stands the maypole which is a rare survival. {1} The maypole is shown at the junction of Church Street and Maypole Street on the 1905 Ordnance Survey County Series map. {2} A 19th century, wood and wrought iron maypole with spiralling red, white and blue alternating lines wedged into a tall, rectangular base. It is crowned with a painted wooden orb with a wrought iron weathervane with a fox motif.
