  • (Medieval - 1066 AD to 1539 AD)

Full Description

Barlings Abbey had a holding in Kexby that may have been run as a grange and contributed to the settlement morphology. {1} An isolated farm north of Kexby Lane at SK86178559 is called 'Kexby Grange' and shown on the 1956 6 inch Ordnance Survey map, but it was marked as 'Kexby Green' on the 1824 first edition 1 inch Ordnance Survey map, so it seems probable that the application of the 'grange' name is relatively recent. {2}{3}
