Monument record MLI50862 - CROPMARKS OF A POSSIBLE ROMANO-BRITISH BUILDING SOUTH OF CARR LANE

Summary

CROPMARKS OF A POSSIBLE ROMANO-BRITISH BUILDING SOUTH OF CARR LANE

Type and Period (2)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

Cropmarks of a small rectangular ditched enclosure, subdivided and with possible internal features; double-ditched on the south and west sides and with a possible entrance on the east side. Seen on Paul Everson aerial photographs of 1979. Possibly Roman in date given the immediate proximity of a known Roman site. The description of the cropmarks seems to indicate a Romano-British temple but this interpretation is dubious. {1}{2} Recorded as undated cropmarks by the staff of the National Mapping Programme. {3}
