Full Description

A Palaeolithic handaxe was found in 1954, on land at Atterby Carrs. It was found by a farm labourer in a hummock of sand and gravel in the carr deposits by the River Ancholme. The axe was passed to Ethel Rudkin, who donated it to Lincoln Museum, where it was classified as 'probably middle Acheulian'. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}
