THE PAROCHIAL CHAPEL OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST, SNITTERBY IS RECORDED FROM 1277 WHEN ARRANGEMENTS WERE MADE FOR THE ENDOWMENT, FOLLOWING A DISPUTE BETWEEN THE INCUMBENT OF WADDINGHAM AND THE INHABITANTS OF SNITTERBY. THE SACRAMENTS WERE TO BE ADMINISTERED, EXCEPT FOR BURIAL. THE CHAPEL WAS INSPECTED AND THE ARRANGEMENTS CONFIRMED c1304. AN ILLUSTRATION OF THE CHAPEL (OR THE CHURCH?) WAS MADE IN THE LATE C18 FOR SIR JOSEPH BANKS. {1}~
