Full Description

A windmill is shown on the 1824 first edition one inch Ordnance Survey map. It was disused by 1956. {1}{2} Anderson's mill, at the west end of the village, is the remains of an early 19th century brick tower mill. {3} This tower mill was rebuilt in the early 19th century and appears to incorporate the roundhouse wall of a post mill or part of an earlier tower mill. It worked until the 1910s by wind after which it was engine driven until 1946. The tower is now disused and contains later milling machinery together with the upper wooden part of the upright shaft. There were four patent sails. {4}{5}{6}
