Coarse black and grey Roman potsherds found by Ethel Rudkin in 1931. {5}
In 1964 the field was under spring crop and no significant finds were made during perambulation. {1}{2}{3}
Field walking identified that the site covered a much larger area than originally thought by mrs rudkin, with the concentration extending into three (and possibly four) fields. Fieldwalking finds include some building stone and tile, daub, 2 fragments of quern, a quantity of greyware (mostly 2nd to 4th century), Samian, colour-coated ware, 'Dalesware', terra cotta fabrics, cream-fabric mortaria, a flagon rim in a cream fabric, vessel glass, and a single sherd of 'Romano-Saxon dimple' pottery. {4}
