Full Description

A wooden post mill is depicted in this vicinity on an Estate Map of 1676. It is possible that the windmill was sited on top of the barrow remains in this location (see PRN 50431), and was removed with the construction of the Pelham Mausoleum in 1787 (see PRN 50433). It is also possible that the windmill was instead located on the earthwork mound located a short distance away to the south-west (see PRN 54891). {1}
