Full Description

Roman pottery was found in 1883, during drain cutting at East Ferry. Although the exact findspot is unknown, the drain ran between Hardwick Hill (SK 839 995) and Jenny Hurn (SK 814 985), and the pottery was said to be found in the rough midpoint between the two. The pottery was said to be a row of cinerary urns, all broken, with the ones in best condition being retained by George Roadley of Laughton Hall. They had reportedly all been lost by 1949. {1}{2}{3}{4}
