Full Description

STONE CIST ENCLOSING A LATE C2 GREY JAR WITH A CREMATION BURIAL INSIDE. FOUND DURING PLOUGHING IN OCTOBER 1961. PLOUGHING IN 1955 AT THE SAME SPOT PRODUCED SEVERAL TEAR BOTTLES, NOW LOST. POSSIBLE SITE OF BARROW. URN IN LINCOLN MUSEUM. {1}{2}{3} LINCOLN MUSEUM RETAIN THE CIST AND URN, AN IRON LAMPHOLDER AND ROMAN POT SHERDS. THEIR RECORDS INCLUDE A DIMENSIONED SKETCH GIVING EXACT SITING TO TF 208274720. THE FINDER CONFIRMED THE SITE AND CIRCUMSTANCES. HE ALSO RECOLLECTS THAT A FARM LABOURER FOUND THE 'TEAR BOTTLES', BUT LATER THREW THEM AWAY. THERE IS NO TRACE OF A MOUND IN THE AREA UNDER CROP. {1}, HTM 18 M
