THE POSSIBLE SITE OF THE DESERTED MEDIEVAL VILLAGE OF THONOCK (SK828928). {1} THE DESERTED SETTLEMENT OF THONOCK REPRESENTS AN UNRESOLVED PROBLEM. CONVENTIONALLY LISTED AS A DMV AND ASSIGNED A POSSIBLE LOCATION AT SK828928, IT HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED BY FIELD EVIDENCE. A SETTLEMENT IS DOCUMENTED IN 1086, AS A MEMBER OF GAINSBOROUGH IN THE EARLY C14, AND AS A SMALL SETTLEMENT (INCLUDING HAVERCROFT - PRN 50401) IN LATER C14, C15 AND EVEN C16 TAXATION RETURNS. IN THE C17, C18 AND C19 HIGH AND LOW (NETHER) THONOCK ARE REFERRED TO. EARLY RAF VERTICAL APs MAY RECORD A HOLLOW- WAY AND CLOSES NEAR LAUNDRY COTTAGES AT SK831928. {2}~
