Full Description

A possible moat. In 1962 the OS field inspector reported that the feature was water and fish filled, forming part of an ornamental garden of Victorian design. It appeared to be complete in its 1962 form. {1}{2} In the kitchen garden of Gate Burton Hall there is a three-sided 'moat', shown on 19th century maps in the same form, aligned with the garden boundaries and probably an ornamental and recreational feature. {3}
