Full Description

The site of Winghale Priory. The principal monastic buildings presumably lay beneath and immediately around the existing farm, though its structure shows no obvious sign of early fabric. The earthworks are extremely poor except for a fishpond complex at the south end of the site. Human remains have been found over many years. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6}{7}{8} A skull, apparently found somewhere on Winghale Priory Farm, was brought to the Find's Liaison Officer at Lincolnshire County Council in June 2009. It was identified as a probable male aged between 40 and 55 years old at death. The skull was taken by the coroner. {9}
