Full Description
Site of a former post mill, thought to be of Elizabethan date. The mill is thought to have had four common sails, and a tailpole for winding into the correct position.
The structure was replaced in 1874 by a new windmill located a short distance to the west (see MLI53870). The remains of the post mill were demolished in 1916, when the structure was said to be at least 3 centuries old at the time. {1}{2}{3}
Earthworks of the former mill mound were identified on aerial photography, examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {4}
