Full Description
THE STONE, KNOWN AS THE 'SCOTTON STONE', MARKED THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN THE PARISHES OF SCOTTER AND SCOTTON ON THE TRENT BANK. ACCORDING TO DR T.B.F. EMINSON, THE STONE NOT ONLY MARKED THE PARISH BOUNDARY BUT ALSO THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN TWO FISHERIES. IT IS POSSIBLE THE STONE IS STILL IN SITU CONCEALED BENEATH A HEIGHTENED RIVER BANK, OR IT MAY HAVE ROLLED DOWN INTO THE TRENT. {1}
