Full Description

Property deeds show the location of a former Primitive Methodist chapel, situated within the south-east corner of the paddock, close to the modern road. The chapel is believed to have been of mud and stud construction, and was demolished before 1890. {1}{2}{3} The chapel was built in 1837 to seat 103. It was closed c.1890, and was thought to have been immediately demolished. The 1906 OS maps shows a Plymouth Brethren chapel in this location, however, and it is possible that this building was not demolished immediately, and was taken over by the Plymouth Brethren - a congregational movement originating in Ireland. The building in question does seem to have been demolished by the 1970s. {4}{5}{6}
