Full Description
A large mound about 9 feet high and 100 feet in diameter by the side of the road. Identified by C. W. Phillips as barrow, although not shown as such on the Ordnance Survey map. A large hole, 10 feet deep, 22 feet long and 12 feet broad was dug in it in February 1959, for the base of a Royal Observer Corps observation post for detecting radioactivity. This showed it was artificial and yielded a few scraps of pottery. More details are said to be on an attached plan (missing) along with a description by D. Petch, of Lincoln City and County Museum.{1}{7}
