Full Description

A sherd of medieval pottery and two fragments of briquetage were found during a watching brief at Lagoon Walk, Skegness. One of the briquetage fragments was not worn which would suggest that it had only travelled a short distance. It may have come from a nearby saltworking site. {1}{2} Medieval salterns did not use the poorly-fired clay-vessels that are the source of briquetage. If the identification of briquetage is accurate then the site will be Prehistoric or Roman. {3}
