Full Description

A coastal defence battery of the Second World War Coastal Crust is believed to have been located in this area. The site was comprised of a brick and concrete platform with holdfasts for two 6" guns. Expense magazines were located underneath the firing platform, and a nearby engine room provided power. {1}{2}{3} Earthwork remains of enclosures were noted in this area on aerial photographs examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. The enclosures were thought to mark the positions of anti-aircraft guns, used to defend the battery site. {4}
