Full Description

A roadblock was established in this location during the Second World War. The defences were manned by members of the Home Guard, and consisted of a line of anti-tank cylinders positioned across the road (of which only a single cylinder is now still extant, by the entrance to Ivy Grove House), with 21 anti-tank mines ready to be deployed in the event of impending attack. {1}{2}{3}
