Full Description

A very small tower mill, this replaced a post mill in the early 19th century. It was winded by wheel and chain until 1905, when an enormous fantail was added to the little cap, dwarfing it. It worked until the early 1930s, and then became derelict. The cap was taken off in the 1950s, leaving the tower intact and not disused. In 1978 the remaining gear (two pairs of stones, upright shaft with wall tower and tentering gear) was taken out and fitted to Lincoln Mill, where it may now be seen at work. The empty tower was converted into a house in the early 1930s. The sails were spring shuttered and were carried on a poll end, very unusual in this part of the county. {1}{2}{3} A former tower mill, now a house, built in the early 19th century and converted and extended in the 20th century. It was constructed of brick, which was tarred. It was a three stage tapering tower mill with double 20th century glazed doors to the ground floor and single 20th century windows to the upper floors.
