Full Description

Earthwork remains of former settlement at Toynton All Saints, comprising crofts and enclosures, identified on aerial photographs by the National Mapping Programme. {1}{2} Site visit undertaken in October 2007 on field centred at TF 39558 63362. Drainage or boundary ditches, as seen on the NMP plot, were visible. Earthworks covered much of the site, and areas in the south-west of the field particularly may have been the result of dumped material. A small area of ridge and furrow was also seen in the north-eastern corner. Overall the earthworks looked to be more the result of industrial or agricultural nature rather than of settlement. {3}
