Full Description
Cropmarks of a probable Neolithic long barrow, to the north-east of Stonepit Covert, Tathwell. Visible as an elongated curvilinear enclosure, defined by a single ditch. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1}
The long barrow is situated on the upper valley slope of a tributary of the River Lud, facing north. It is aligned on south-east to north-west, with the long axis traversing the contours. It is an oblong-shaped enclosure with convex terminals, and measures roughly 28m by 15m. {2}{3}{4}{5}
