Full Description
Cropmarks of a probable prehistoric enclosure, to the south-east of Benniworth Walk Farm. Visible as an elongated, wedge-shaped enclosure with curved corners, and defined by a single ditch measuring 50m by 18m. There are interruptions in the ditch on both the north and south sides; that on the north appears more clear cut, and may be an entrance. Short linear ditches appear to be attached to both sides of the broader, western end of the enclosure. Some speculation exists that this may be the remains of a Neolithic long barrow, though this interpretation is unconfirmed, and an interpretation as a more recent sheep creep could also be possible. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1}{2}
