Full Description
The deserted medieval village of Rigsby is mentioned in Domesday in 1086 and in the Book of Fees in 1242. {1}{2}{3}
It is also recorded with Ailby in the Lay Subsidy returns of 1334. {4}
Medieval settlement remains are visible as earthworks around the modern village of Rigsby. Remains of crofts are visible north-west of the modern settlement as enclosures. Ridge and furrow survives as earthworks to the south-east. {5}
Medieval ridge and furrow appears to have been ploughed out and is not visible (in 2013) on Google maps. {6}
