Full Description

St John the Baptist church retains Early English (13th century) 3 bay arcade and parts of a south doorway and priest's doorway. It also retains a Decorated (about 1290AD to about 1350AD) piscina. The building was much rebuilt in 1862. {1}{2} A parish church with architectural features surviving from the 13th century which was largely rebuilt in 1862 by C. E. Giles. It was constructed of greenstone ashlar with limestone ashlar bands and dressings and has banded Welsh and Westmoreland slates, decorative tiled ridges and stone coped gables with crosses fleury.
