Full Description

A plain five-bay brick house of about 1700. Its slightly odd appearance is due to a later hipped roof of low pitch. Inside, the main rooms were all panelled and have several naïve painted panels, probably done by an itinerant artist. In one ground-floor room, a topographical view; upstairs, Dido pining for Aeneas, signed 'Inchbald Pt for Mr Harland 1763'. An outbuilding behind may have been a detached kitchen. {1}{2}{3} Mid 18th century house, altered in the late 19th century. Red brick with 19th century hipped slate roof with large central 18th century ridge stack. L-shape in plan with a lobby entrance. Two storeys high with a five bay front. The stable, now an outbuilding, was built in the late 18th century, with 20th century alterations (see MLI93475).
