Full Description

Human remains and 'ancient armour' were found c.1850 on land to the south of Candlesby. The rough findspot was confirmed by the Ordnance Survey during the 1887 survey work for the 1st edition 6" County Series map in this area. The finds were said to include pieces of armour, swords and shields, and were thought to be of probable Saxon date. The current location of the finds and remains is not known, and their exact details cannot be confirmed. {1}{2}{3}{4}
