Full Description

A scatter of late Roman pottery was found in 1977, in this area adjacent to Burlands Beck. The assemblage was largely comprised of sherds in very sandy fabrics dating to the 3rd and 4th centuries, and included pieces of Dales ware. Further probable Roman finds were made in the same area in 1979, when a ring and annular brooch were found. {1}
