Full Description

St Mary's Church has an Early English west tower, buttresses and a five bay arcade. It also retains some Decorated and Perpendicular (1180AD to around 1520AD) features but was much restored in 1854. There is an inscription that the church was built by the 'Fratres' and 'Sorores' of the guild of St Mary. White states that the church was built in 1393. {1}{2} A parish church built in the 12th century which underwent alterations in the early 13th and late 15th centuries, 1607 and in the 19th century. The chancel was rebuilt in 1870 and the church underwent restoration in 1853 and 1910.
