'Some years ago a Roman coffin was dug up in 'the gardens' lying between Queen Street and South Street (Ref: Ogden History of Horncastle). Probably refers to one of the lead coffins noted by J. Conway Walter in his History of Horncastle. {1}{2}{3} See also PRN 41866
