Full Description

Haugham was the location of a small Benedictine monastic cell which was founded some time after 1080 by Hugh, Earl of Chester, who died in 1101. The cell was dependent on the Abbey of St Sever, in modern day France, and probably only supported one or two monks. It was dissolved in 1397 and the property passed to the Carthusian priory of St Anne at Coventry. {1}{2}{3}
