Full Description

THE SITES ARE VISIBLE IN THE SIDES OF THE MAIN DRAIN RE-CUT IN 1967. THEY FORM LOW MOUNDS 2-3FT HIGH IN THE CENTRE AND ABOUT 15-20 FT IN EXTENT AND CAN BE SEEN EXTENDING ON EITHER SIDE OF THE DRAIN UNDER 3-4 FT OF LATER CLAY AND ALLUVIUM. THE SITES WERE FIRST OBSERVED IN 1967 AND J.B.WHITWELL VISITED IN 1968.THE FINDER THINKS HE SAW A TESSELATED PAVEMENT c4FT DOWN WHEN THE BLUE ANCHOR HOTEL WAS BUILT. J B WHITWELL COULD NOT CONFIRM THIS. {1}
