Full Description
ACCORDING TO THE OS THERE IS NO OBVIOUS EVIDENCE FOR ' THE CAUSEWAY' BEING ROMAN. THE AREA IS LOW LYING AND IS SITUATED BELOW THE KNOLL ON WHICH BURGH STANDS. THE CAUSEWAY IS A PATH ABOUT 10' WIDE BETWEEN DEEP DITCHES. THE DITCH ON THE NW SIDE OF THE FIELD IS DEEP AND WET, BUT NON EXISTENT ON OTHER SIDES, SAVE THAT ALONG THE CAUSEWAY. NO SIGN OF WALLING OR FOUNDATIONS BUT THE LEVEL OF THIS SECTION IS ABOVE THAT OF THE SURROUNDING AREA. POTTERY HAS BEEN FOUND IN THE AREA BETWEEN TF50286497 AND TF50356495.{1}{2}
