Full Description

Foundations of medieval settlement including a salt-boiling site, seen on a boulder clay floor beneath the sand. The village lies just behind the concrete ramp and shows up as rectangular markings on aerial photographs. 15th - 16th century pottery was also found. {1}{2}{3} The church and parts of the parish are said to have been washed away by the sea centuries ago. The ruins of the church were seen at low water. {4} Earthworks including the possible remains of a medieval salt works, identified on aerial photography by the National Mapping Programme. {5}
